The Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist believes China may agree to limit the release of dangerous artificial intelligence models if the US takes the initial lead on the matter. Bill Gates told Reuters he is seeking a meeting with President Xi Jinping this autumn to propose global efforts to mitigate the growing risks posed by AI.

Gates warned that world leaders are not doing enough to respond to the rapid development of AI and called for greater global coordination. To protect the workforce from displacement, he advocated for the creation of "human reserved" jobs.
