The Gates Foundation is committing $1 billion over two years to expand artificial intelligence tools in health, agriculture, and education. This funding includes $400 million for education, $400 million for healthcare, and $100 million each for farming and local language datasets. Bill Gates is also proposing that the United States and China each dedicate roughly 5% of their data center compute as foreign aid for poorer countries.

OpenAI is allocating $50 million for an AI health worker program starting in Rwanda, while Anthropic is contributing to vaccine development and local crop data. Google and Microsoft are also engaged in AI research for African languages. Gates will visit OpenAI and Anthropic in San Francisco for upcoming discussions regarding these joint efforts.
