Broadcom Gathers $60B to Fund AI Chips for Anthropic and PeersAVGOPVT:ANTHSPCXNVDA

A group of Wall Street lenders is arranging new credit facilities to support the purchase of high-end computing hardware for firms building large language models. Broadcom is coordinating a la syndicate to raise $60 billion for this pool of financing, which will benefit Anthropic and other AI developers, according to sources. This expansion follows a separate $42 billion convertible loan provided by Broadcom to help Anthropic fund a $125.2 billion, five year lease for TPU chips, an arrangement that potentially makes Anthropic Broadcom's largest compute customer by 2027.

The capital influx arrives as Anthropic prepares for an initial public offering, with a trading debut targeted before Nov. 26 and formal marketing scheduled for the week of Nov. 9. Investors estimate a fair valuation for the AI lab between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion, though some analysts suggest $1.5 trillion. An IPO prospectus reveals Anthropic has total infrastructure obligations of $518 billion over the next decade, 80% of which are noncancelable, including up to $84.5 billion in Nvidia compute via SpaceX by 2029.
