The systems for Anthropic's AI assistant and the audio streaming platform Spotify returned to normal operation on Sept. 29 after a period of technical instability. The disruption, which affected a large segment of users in the United States and globally, had temporarily blocked access to Claude's generative tools and Spotify's music services.

The downtime began just as OpenAI was starting its Dev Day event. During the window of failure, Claude users encountered "elevated errors" across the entire platform, leaving the tool completely inaccessible for many customers until the recovery later that day.
