The social media company has ended the employment of a group of specialists focused on artificial intelligence safety. Meta terminated the research team after they had been integrated into the company to strengthen its internal safeguards and technical alignment.

The employees joined the company in June through an acqui-hire from the startup Virtue AI, according to a report by Semafor. The move separates the researchers from the organization only a few months after the acquisition of the talent was completed.
