Ben Affleck described the technical framework of his AI video models, which involves unfreezing weights and training only the last cinematic layer to hit professional production standards. This technology formed the basis of InterPositive, a 16 person firm he founded in 2022 and sold to Netflix in March 2026 for $587 million in cash. Under this system, each movie trains its own private model using its own dailies so the production retains control over both the footage and the associated learning.

InterPositive developed its own training data by shooting on a controlled stage for 8 months to avoid using public models trained on the work of peer filmmakers, which Affleck viewed as an unsustainable business. Affleck, who also serves as CEO of Artists Equity, discussed these methods during an appearance on Bloomberg Live.
