Hermes Agent spent 19 hours cleaning up a million line Python codebase to reduce its overall size by 34.4%. The automated system deployed 1,393 subagents to refactor the Hermes Agent repository, removing roughly 400,000 lines of code from the project on September 2.

Nous Research estimated the reduction saved nearly $2 million in engineering hours. The operation, led by developer Teknium, utilized a tiered agent structure to eliminate redundant code from a repository that originally consisted of one million lines of Python.
