The system allows users to deploy multiple specialized AI agents, with each distinct agent represented by a "dot," to execute diverse tasks. This move puts the company in direct competition with other emerging autonomous tools, including Meta's Muse as well as SpaceXAI's Instinct and Grok Bot.

The launch occurs as OpenAI reports annualized revenue approaching $70B and enters discussions to raise $30B at a $1.4T valuation. The company has pushed its initial public offering to next year. During the event, some users claimed a live demonstration of Dots malfunctioned and the official stream's audio was subsequently muted to conceal the error.
