OpenAI Solves 90 Year Old Navier Stokes Problem With 10,000 AI AgentsPVT:OPAI

A proprietary internal system spent 88 hours coordinating a massive swarm of AI assistants to tackle one of the 7 Millennium Prize Problems for OpenAI. The 10,000 agents generated 130 billion tokens and exchanged 2.7 million messages to produce a proposed solution to the 90 year old Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem. Following the initial run, GPT-6 Astra spent 17 hours verifying the 166 page proof's logical steps using the Lean proof assistant to check the argument against formal axioms.

Greg Brockman stated the result represents the creation of new knowledge by AI, which could unlock scientific discoveries in medicine and fluid dynamics. Independent validation is still pending, and the proof must appear in a qualifying publication and survive 2 year period of scrutiny before the Clay Mathematics Institute considers the solution for a prize.
