Cloudflare's Durable Objects now control agent sandbox containers directly through a container API following the release of Sandbox SDK 1.0. The software development kit allows developers to programmatically manage images, snapshots, and terminals from within their own code.

The SDK provides access to a container infrastructure recently rebuilt for AI agent workloads to reduce time-to-interactive by 6x to a p50 of 648 ms. This update, released during the company's Birthday Week, also includes public beta support for filesystem snapshots and lets agents select instance types and images at runtime.
