1 OpenAI Confirms always on o Assistant for DevDayPVT:OPAICBRS π€ AI Sep 26, 8:12 AM EDT 9/8
A software build dated September 26 contains multiple internal aliases, including "dots" and "orbit," for a new a la carte feature. This code includes an enterprise setting for "orbit_enabled" and references to "aeon" identifiers that map to cloud infrastructure. The internal naming surfaced alongside a company tease confirming that a persistent AI agent, branded as "o," will be introduced at its developer conference next week.
The assistant competes with Meta's Muse and xAI's Grok Bot by using a cloud computer that remains online to manage tasks such as email via a specialized "-o" suffix. The product debuts this Tuesday and is available across all Pro subscription tiers, including the $100 level. OpenAI will also introduce a "Fast Mode" powered by Cerebras chips for its $500 plan and a shared message board for agents.
