Pope Leo XIV Rejects Trump's Claim That AI Risks Are a HoaxNVDA

The head of the Roman Catholic Church argued that threats posed by artificial intelligence are genuine and should not be dismissed as fabrications. Pope Leo XIV specifically countered assertions by President Trump that fears of AI destroying humanity are a "hoax," stating that such doom scenarios are not "fake news" and must be handled with caution to keep the technology under human control to avoid it becoming an instrument of domination.

These remarks were made during the pontiff's first state visit to France, where he also criticized Nvidia for opposing government regulation of the technology. Speaking at the French presidential palace and UNESCO headquarters in Paris, Leo XIV warned against the risk of humanity being lost to a "paradise of machines" and reiterated the Vatican's stance that nuclear deterrence is a "mistaken" military doctrine.
