The Chicago Board Options Exchange and S&P Dow Jones Indices have entered a new agreement to build products that go beyond traditional index derivatives. The companies may collaborate on tokenized options contracts, utilizing blockchain-based technology to digitize financial instruments linked to S&P indices.

The exclusive licensing partnership is extended for a 25 year term, running through 2051. This renewal preserves the current exclusive rights held by Cboe to issue S&P-linked derivatives while allowing the two firms to develop tokenized versions of those assets.
