Ford CEO Warns AI Will Eliminate Screen Based JobsF

Jim Farley, the chief executive of Ford, told an audience on Wednesday that roles in call centers and finance are most at risk of being removed by artificial intelligence. Speaking at a company event, he stated that positions involving spreadsheets in finance and entry level programming will definitively be changed or eliminated during the current early stage of AI adoption, which he termed the first inning.

For workers in skilled trades, Farley described AI as a "companion" rather than a threat. Ford Pro already employs AI to guide dealer technicians through unfamiliar tasks, and the company uses AI vision systems to verify technical specifications, such as whether a vehicle door fits correctly.
