The footprint of Carnegie Mellon University will expand into Florida via a new instructional site in Miami. Citadel founder Ken Griffin is providing $3 billion to the institution, representing the largest single donation ever committed to a university in the United States.

Griffin is allocating $2 billion of the total funds specifically to the creation and operation of the Miami campus. The funding marks the largest individual contribution to higher education in US history and will support the university's permanent expansion into the region.
