Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil enforcement action against Polymarket in NY County Supreme Court on Thursday to stop the platform from offering event contracts in the state. The lawsuit alleges that the prediction market violated gambling laws by allowing users to bet on sports, culture, and elections, and seeks an injunction along with disgorgement of profits, restitution, and civil penalties.

The legal action is part of a broader effort by New York to crack down on prediction markets. In July, the state filed a similar lawsuit against rival platform Kalshi for operating an illegal gambling operation within New York.
