Patients with diabetes and obesity may require fewer injections of weight-loss drugs thanks to a new agreement between Novo Nordisk and Sweden's Nanexa. The partnership grants the Danish company access to long-acting drug delivery systems that can be integrated into its current treatment options for metabolic disorders.

The exclusive global licensing arrangement is valued at as much as €1.165 billion. Under the terms, Novo Nordisk will license and develop the technology to reduce the dose frequency required for its obesity and diabetes medications.
