The smart contract security firm founded in 2015 will be integrated into S&P Global Ratings to strengthen digital asset risk assessments. S&P Global agreed to acquire OpenZeppelin for an undisclosed sum, absorbing a company that has completed more than 900 security engagements and whose code underpins more than $37 trillion in transferred value across stablecoins and tokenized funds.
CEO Demian Brener will lead the business as a standalone unit, while the company maintains its tools and applications for free on GitHub. This acquisition follows S&P Global's recent participation in a $110 million Series B funding round for blockchain data provider Kaiko on September 15.
