Håkan Samuelsson is stepping down as the head of Volvo Cars after serving in the top role on two separate occasions. Klaus Zellmer, previously the boss at Skoda, takes over as chief executive to continue a company-wide revamp.

Zellmer will manage an operational overhaul to build on the restructuring started by Samuelsson. The announcement on Sept. 20 establishes the new leadership for the Swedish automaker's global operations.
