President Emmanuel Macron convened an emergency meeting and requested a G7 energy summit in the coming weeks to coordinate stockpile levels and evaluate the release of strategic reserves. Macron attributed the price surge to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran. The government is currently preparing financial support for high-mileage drivers to offset the cost of energy inflation.
