Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf threatened to disrupt the flow of energy across the Middle East on Tuesday if the security of Iran is compromised. The parliament speaker warned that regional energy infrastructure would be at risk and that no other nation would be able to export oil if Iran is blocked from selling its own supplies.

The remarks were a response to comments made by US President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Ghalibaf described Trump’s statements as "insulting and reckless," adding that Iran would respond to any attack firmly and with precision.
