A multibillion-dollar expenditure was authorized by the investors behind the Shell-led gas export project in Canada to increase the facility's output. Partners in the venture reached a final investment decision to move forward with the growth plan, which will bring the annual capacity of the LNG Canada site to 28 million tonnes.

The approval allows the project to enter its next phase of expansion for liquefied natural gas exports. The venture members have committed to the funding required to scale the facility's operations for international markets.
