Syrian officials have dispatched 77 tanker trucks carrying gasoline toward the Iraqi border to establish a two-way energy corridor. The initial shipment of approximately 32,800 metric tons marks the first time gasoline has been transported by road in this direction, following the disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The route was previously used exclusively to move Iraqi fuel oil through Syria for export. According to Syrian officials, future agreements may expand the corridor to include a wider range of petroleum products and commercial goods.
