Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser told Japanese media on Sept. 24 that the company can usually resolve operational disruptions within days rather than weeks or months. To further reduce reliance on vulnerable maritime chokepoints, the state oil producer is now examining a fourth and fifth export route as well as expanded overseas storage, with Japan identified as a potential location. Nasser cited the 2019 attacks, where operations returned to full capacity in 11 days, as evidence of the firm's recovery speed.

Aramco continues to fulfill contractual crude volumes for its core customers despite current market disruptions, although it has reduced the availability of incremental spot barrels. The company currently moves exports through the East-West pipeline, the Strait of Hormuz, the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb corridor, and Egypt's Sumed pipeline. These routes were largely constructed before the emergence of modern drone threats to critical energy nodes.
