Araghchi said he would fly back to Tehran within hours rather than wait in New York, adding that the Qataris know how to reach Iran whenever they have the answer. He said message exchanges through Qatari and Pakistani mediators had continued throughout the war but taken on a more serious form since Iran put forward its proposal.

Araghchi strongly denied any flexibility on the nuclear issue, after US officials told Axios and CNN that President Donald Trump was willing to give Iran sanctions relief and release frozen funds in exchange for concrete progress on its nuclear program. He said the conditions stressed by the Supreme Leader must be implemented for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen, and that Iran has presented a solution if Washington wants an agreement or a peaceful end to the war.

Trump denied the Axios report on Truth Social, writing that the story claiming he offered sanctions relief and frozen funds was untrue. "I offered them NOTHING!" he wrote, calling it a hoax and demanding Axios withdraw it immediately. The denial came two days after Trump rejected Iran's seven-day proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, with Brent crude settling Monday up 0.92% at $105.28 a barrel.
