The general staff of Iran's Armed Forces threatened a military response if the US interferes with the Strait of Hormuz. Spokesman Shekarchi stated that ships transiting the waterway will face security risks if they do not follow the routes established by Tehran and that the US must leave the West Asia region to minimize its losses. He added that the Islamic Republic would not permit the US to return to its previous position in the new world order.

This escalation follows an interview where President Masoud Pezeshkian told Al Jazeera that blocking the waterway was a natural response after American sanctions cut off alternative paths for Iran. Pezeshkian stated the crisis could be resolved through negotiations rather than force and that the strait would remain open for trade if a settlement to the dispute is reached.
