1 Persian Gulf Oil Exports Reach 94% of Pre-War Levels to Strip Iran of Leverage↩︎ 🛢️ Commodity Sep 25, 7:10 AM EDT 70/39
Iranian oil shipments plunged to 156,000 barrels per day in August from 893,000 in July, crashing the economic foundation of Tehran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This collapse in Iranian loadings coincides with the recovery of Gulf state exports, leaving Tehran with little of the energy leverage it held earlier in the conflict. Crude exports from Iran's Kharg Island have fallen to near zero, while the broader Middle East has successfully adapted its shipping lanes to bypass Iranian threats.
Persian Gulf oil flows have returned to 94% of pre-war levels, with Saudi Arabia exporting 6 million bpd in September to match its 2025 monthly average. This rebound was facilitated by the US Navy, which secured a new shipping route along the Omani coast to help Riyadh offset drone damage to its East-West pipeline. Total regional exports reached 12.8 million bpd this month, according to Kpler data, though analysts at HFI Research warn the recovery may provide a false sense of market stability.
