President Donald Trump dismissed an Iranian proposal for a 7 day ceasefire and informed aides that he expects US military bombing of the nation to resume after the midterm elections.

The US has formally notified Iran that the naval blockade will remain in place despite the ceasefire offer. While Tehran sought to reopen the waterway, a US official stated that the current flow of tankers through the Strait of Hormuz reduces the urgency for the US to reach a diplomatic deal.
