Stations in Orlando have blanked diesel prices to zero with pumps running dry, while California locations began posting "out of diesel" signs on Sunday. The national average for diesel reached $6.35 per gallon, and gasoline prices rose to $4.40 per gallon, the highest level since Memorial Day.

Diesel costs surged more than $1 per gallon over the last 30 days in California, Oregon, Washington, and New Mexico, with 21 states seeing increases above 90 cents. Global supply disruptions and strong demand drove prices to these all-time highs, including a $1.30 per gallon increase in California. The shortages emerge as fuel marketers struggle to catch up with wholesale price increases.
