US Threatens Diesel Export Ban to Force 120M Barrel EU Release

The European Commission has entered high-level talks with the White House to address a "global energy price crisis" and coordinate member state reactions to U.S. energy demands. Brussels is currently working through the International Energy Agency to formulate a joint position among EU nations, while French President Emmanuel Macron has requested a G7 conference call to organize a broader coordinated response rather than addressing bilateral pressure.

Washington is pressuring France and Germany to release 120M barrels of emergency diesel over six months, with reports that the Trump administration has threatened a ban on U.S. diesel exports if they refuse. The push follows a record price of $6.53 per gallon for U.S. diesel last week, creating urgency ahead of the November midterm elections. U.S. officials claim European allies failed to fulfill strategic reserve commitments made in March, as Europe now relies heavily on American fuel imports following the ban of Russian supplies.
