The lawsuit follows a $292 million exploit, which stands as the largest decentralized finance hack of 2026 to date. KelpDAO alleges that LayerZero failed to disclose critical technology risks and neglected to prevent the infiltration of its security infrastructure.

Pellegrino, a co-founder of LayerZero, described the allegations as 'meritless' and stated he will defend himself and the firm against the claims. The legal dispute centers on security failures within the rsETH bridge that allowed attackers to compromise the system earlier this year.
