Saudi Arabia recorded the fastest expansion in the Middle East and North Africa with a 154% year over year increase in digital asset activity. Turkey maintains its position as the region's largest market with annual on-chain transaction volume approaching $200 billion, and the UAE reached approximately $150 billion in 2025. Qatar posted a 120% growth rate, the second highest in the region, according to a Bitcoin Policy Institute report.
Institutional participation in Gulf regulatory frameworks and the use of bitcoin and U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins as hedges against currency depreciation have driven the surge. Residents in Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Lebanon utilize digital assets to protect savings from sanctions and banking failures, with capital shifting to on-chain assets following strikes on Iran last summer.
