Verification of emissions and environmental data for Brazil's low-carbon aviation and diesel fuels now utilizes a distributed ledger system. The state oil giant Petrobras built two applications on the Cardano blockchain to trace sustainability claims for its sustainable aviation fuel and Diesel R renewable diesel, the Cardano Foundation announced.

The transition to blockchain is intended to authenticate the environmental credentials of the fuel products and eliminate the risk of double counting in the emissions reporting process. Petrobras is among the largest state-owned energy firms to implement Cardano-based tools for supply chain transparency.
