Bitget recorded $231 million in deposits over the 24 hours reported on Sept. 30, close to its August daily average of $245 million, as the crypto exchange restored withdrawals after a $387.5 million hack. Futures trading volume totaled $9.2 billion on Sept. 29, with $4.4 billion in open interest.
The deposit figure follows roughly $463 million in net outflows in the 24 hours into Sept. 29. Bitget reopened Bitcoin withdrawals on Sept. 28 and Ether withdrawals the next day. USDT withdrawals were scheduled to resume Sept. 30, with all assets available by Oct. 2.
CEO Gracy Chen has pledged to cover customer losses regardless of whether the stolen funds are recovered and to replenish the Protection Fund above $300 million within a week. SlowMist, which is investigating the breach, identified unauthorized access to a third-party management platform using an employee identity and recovered a customized tool for issuing withdrawals. It is still investigating how the attacker moved between the affected systems.
