Meta Restores Ads for Elon Musk Film After Wide Block
🎭 Culture Sep 26, 12:02 PM EDT 6/5
YouTube, TikTok, and Meta's Instagram and Facebook services initially refused to host paid advertisements for Alex Gibney's documentary about Elon Musk, citing guidelines on political content. Meta later reversed its decision for its own platforms, stating that the rejection of the promotional campaigns was an error and that the ads are now being restored.
The film's studio found that all major US social platforms were declining payment for promotions, which limited the production's ability to purchase reach across these services. While Meta has updated its stance, other platforms have not yet announced any change to their restrictions on the film's advertising.
