Singer Ed Sheeran labeled the conflict in Gaza as disproportionate and catastrophic during a Philadelphia stadium show, breaking his long-standing practice of avoiding political commentary. Speaking at Lincoln Financial Field, the English pop star admitted he made "mistakes" over the past week regarding the removal of rapper Macklemore from the Loop Tour after the opening act shouted "Free Palestine" on stage.

Sheeran performed alone on stage after his band and other supporting acts withdrew from the show following the controversy. He told the crowd he is deeply worried about venue policies that require performers to pre-approve content and stated he wants his music to focus on humanity and unity rather than politics.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators marched toward the venue and blocked two parking lot entrances before the concert. On stage, Sheeran described the October 7 attack on Israel as horrific and said that the systemic injustice in the West Bank cannot be overlooked, adding that he is listening and learning to help victims of the conflict.
