Vice President Han Zheng called for the post-conflict reconstruction of Gaza and the governance of the West Bank to proceed under the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine during his address to the United Nations. He urged the "relevant country" to immediately cease all threats of force against Cuba and to completely remove the existing blockade and sanctions against the island nation.

Speaking at the 81st UN General Assembly, Zheng promoted a two-state solution for the Palestinians and stated that the sovereignty and security of states in the Middle East and the Gulf must be respected. Reuters described the remarks as a push back by China against US policies regarding Cuba and Iran, while Zheng also noted that protectionism produces no winners.
