India Summons Pakistan Diplomat After PNS Hunain Collision Breaches 1991 Pact

An Indian Navy warship and the Pakistani vessel PNS Hunain collided in the North Arabian Sea about 220 km east of Oman on Sept 15. India summoned Pakistan's top diplomat in New Delhi to protest the event, which took place in international waters.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs alleged the Pakistani ship approached at high speed in an "unprofessional and unsafe manner," violating a 1991 agreement requiring 3 nautical mile separation. India reported no major damage to its own vessel, while unconfirmed reports from Indian sources claim the PNS Hunain returned to port damaged. Pakistan has not officially commented.
