Hossein Pedaran was put to death on Saturday after a conviction for providing Israeli intelligence with data on military installations in Isfahan. Iranian authorities reported that Pedaran shared classified information on missile sites and that encrypted devices and recording equipment were discovered at his home. His arrest was linked to a 12 day war in June 2025, and the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence for espionage.

Judiciary news agency Mizan stated Pedaran first attempted to contact the CIA before establishing a link with a Mossad officer using a Dutch WhatsApp number and Telegram. Human rights groups allege that these types of executions often rely on confessions extracted during detention. Mizan provided no evidence for the allegations, and the claims remain independently unverified.
