U.S.-made F-16V fighter aircraft arrived in Taipei on Friday as part of an effort to enhance the island's air security. The shipment consists of the first two planes of a new order intended to bolster territorial defenses against the military capabilities of China.

Taipei is moving to rapidly expand its arsenal of weaponry to protect against a potential Chinese attack. The arrival of the F-16V jets is the most recent step in a broader program to strengthen Taiwan's military capacity and airspace surveillance.
