The Trump administration is limiting the number of officials allowed to attend the high-level meetings compared to the previous year. Approved visitors will face strict travel restrictions and a total ban on purchasing luxury goods or wholesale club memberships while in the U.S.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott urged New York-area retailers to avoid facilitating purchases that would violate the restrictions, which he described as a measure to prevent a "luxury retail splurge." Washington is granting the visas to satisfy host-country obligations despite a six month war between the two nations in the Middle East. The restricted group will participate in the UNGA opening session and High Level week.
