Israel's Prime Minister received intelligence in September 2023 about a planned Hamas offensive from the leader of the United Arab Emirates, according to The New York Times. The publication cited two sources to confirm earlier reporting by the newspaper Haaretz that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed provided the secret warning a month before the incursions began on October 7.

The communication did not reach Israel’s security chiefs and was described as vague, according to five former officials. Notes from a security meeting conducted by Benjamin Netanyahu days after the warning contained no mention of the intelligence from the UAE president.
