El Al canceled flights on Friday to bring Israelis home from Dubai after the United Arab Emirates withdrew landing permits for Israeli carriers. The repatriation flights had been arranged after Flydubai suspended service to and from Israel while authorities investigate Wednesday’s cockpit attack on flight FZ1073.

Emirates is also barring travelers from boarding flights at overseas airports if their itinerary connects in Dubai to a Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv. Israir received approval from Dubai airport for a rescue flight, Channel 12 reported, but ticket sales remain contingent on clearance from all parties.

The original flight, carrying 174 people from Dubai to Tel Aviv, landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, after passengers and crew subdued the co-pilot and additional pilots aboard took control. President Donald Trump said Thursday that initial information suggested an Iranian link, adding that investigators were still working on it. Asked about US retaliation if Iran was responsible, he said: “They'll be hit very hard.” No Iranian role has been established, and the UAE investigation is examining possible terrorist motives, prior planning or direction.
