Financial compensation for Iranian families killed in the current conflict will come from the sale of maritime assets seized from the US and Israel. Judicial official Hassan Abdolianpour announced Tuesday that vessels and cargo captured from these nations are now available for purchase to fund those reparations.

Judiciary spokesperson Ali Kazemi cited a vessel linked to Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer as an example of assets eligible for reparations following a Supreme Court ruling. The Iranian judiciary has seized another ship linked to Ofer, and prosecutors previously sought a $170 million penalty from the owner of the MSC Aries, a Portuguese-flagged container ship seized in April 2024.
