He described Islamabad's commitment to Saudi security as unconditional, adding that the military would act to any extent to prevent attacks on the kingdom. Army Chief Asim Munir has repeatedly urged Iranian officials to work to halt Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and its energy infrastructure.

Pakistani officials told Tehran that Islamabad could be compelled to act in Saudi Arabia's defense if Riyadh formally requests assistance under the Mecca defense pact, the Financial Times reported. A diplomat noted that Saudi efforts to secure support from regional countries have yielded little result. Neither Riyadh nor the Houthis currently appear willing to negotiate.
