The East Anglian Air Ambulance was denied access to airspace near RAF Mildenhall on Sept 26 as US military installations in Britain tightened security. Local law enforcement has also restricted or blocked road traffic on many routes leading to RAF Fairford, RAF Lakenheath, and RAF Mildenhall at the request of the US government. These measures were implemented over the past few days to secure the bases.

Force protection levels have risen to FPCON Delta at RAF Fairford and FPCON Charlie at Lakenheath and possibly Mildenhall, marking the highest alert status seen at these sites in 8 months. A US Air Force spokesperson stated the 501st Combat Support Wing remains vigilant but will not disclose specific security measures for operational reasons.
