US Auto Coalition Urges Trump to Ban Chinese Cars Before Xi Visit

The group is pushing for the ban before a scheduled summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping next week, a meeting where the role of electric vehicle maker BYD may be discussed.

Hyundai Motor CEO warned that the US could see a surge of Chinese vehicles if guardrails are not established. The request from the auto industry aims to prevent a market influx of Chinese-made cars during a period of heightened trade and industrial policy tensions ahead of the diplomatic visit.
