The US is not planning the development of nuclear fuel processing facilities in Saudi Arabia, Energy Secretary Wright stated on Sept. 14. This denial excludes the construction or operation of equipment designed to produce enriched uranium within the kingdom's borders.

Wright clarified during a series of statements on Monday that the US has "no plans at all" for enrichment capabilities in the region. The announcement confirms that no arrangements exist to support the technical infrastructure required for the processing of nuclear materials in the Gulf state.
