US Wins Permanent Security Control of Greenland Ending Purchase Push

Washington has secured extensive military basing and overflight rights in Greenland through a new pact with Denmark and the island's government. The agreement bars non-NATO states, including China and Russia, from establishing military bases or maintaining troop presence and removes the ability of these adversaries to make sensitive investments without US screening. The deal grants the US authority to build new installations on the territory without requiring prior approval from Copenhagen or Nuuk.

President Donald Trump abandoned his previous effort to purchase the island in favor of this arrangement, which he described as an "Infinite Life" agreement with no cost to the US. The pact is scheduled for signature next week at the UN General Assembly. While Trump cited permanent control over security, Danish and Greenlandic representatives stated the deal preserves sovereignty and the right to self-determination.
