South Korea's central bank started a trial for 24 hour won payments for overseas investors on September 21. This round-the-clock settlement system removes the time restrictions on currency trading to facilitate more efficient entry into the local financial market.

Full operations for the settlement system begin in January 2027. The Bank of Korea is using the pilot to build the infrastructure required for foreign investors to trade the won without waiting for regional banking hours.
